Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body. - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
The Apostle Paul taught that God’s Spirit lives inside each of us. Not only do we bear His image, but we also carry Him with us wherever we go. Our bodies facilitate God’s presence in our homes, workplaces, schools and communities. A loving, eternal, all-powerful God chooses to get carried around by a bunch of weak human beings. It is not that God needs us for transportation; he chooses to operate this way. Paul declared that the blessing of having God inside us includes a notable responsibility. “...May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thess. 5:23) Paul gives equal billing to both the physical and spiritual. He wants us to dedicate the totality of our being- not just part of ourselves- to him.
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. (1 Cor. 10:31)
